Prof Ricardo Beiras presented an overview of the LABPLAS Project task on modelling human uptake of microplastics via the food chain at the Plastics Europe’s Microplastics Scientific Workshop, which took place on May 8th and May 9th at Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Researchers from the ECOTOX  research group bring their scientific knowledge closer to public society through their active participation in this year’s expo-fair ‘A ciencia que vén ten nome de muller’.

Raquel X. Iglesias, was the winner of the second edition of the Val de Miñor Research Award.

As part of the H2020 LABPLAS Project, coordinated by Universidade de Vigo, the degradability of biopolymers under immersion in coastal zones presenting actual environmental parameters is being tested. Standardised samples (composition, size, mass and shape) of each polymer have been submerged (~2 meters deep) in coastal areas in Spain (Vigo) for 180 days. A data logger is monitoring in real-time relevant environmental parameters (temperature, light, pH).

This Friday, November 11, 2022, the ECOTOX team will participate in a round table for the 20th anniversary of the Prestige catastrophe at the Parador da Costa da Morte (Muxía).
