Horizon 2020 cluster meeting of EU projects contributing to the EU Plastic Strategy

On 30^th September, the European Research Agency (REA B3) organised a cluster meeting of EU projects contributing to the EU Plastic Strategy. LABPLAS Coordinator Prof. Ricardo Beiras (Universidade de Vigo-Ecotox) presented LABPLAS project’s objectives, activities and expected impacts in Session 2: Tackling Plastic Pollution.

Eleven other H2020 R&I projects which were kick-started in the spring of 2021 were also invited to present their projects in different areas including improving the sorting, separation and recycling of multi-layer materials, understanding plastics in the environment, monitoring plastics pollution and tackling plastics in agriculture.

Other ongoing H2020 projects, working on research and innovation in the area of plastics in the circular economy, were also invited to join the meeting. EU policymakers from the relevant DGs:  DG RTD, DG ENV, DG AGRI, DG GROW contributed to the discussions during the Questions and Answers sessions. Making this a great opportunity to build bridges and maximise synergies among other EU Horizon2020 projects in the area of plastics and circular economy.

LABPLAS ultimate aim is to provide policymakers with scientifically sound tools to contribute to a more rational Plastics Governance.
